Paul Scholes made his Manchester United debut on the 24th of September 1994 as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat at Ipswich Town. The Salford born player has been a quick thinking performer at the highest level for almost two decades and has played well over 600 matches in all competitions for the Old Trafford club. It is difficult to think of a footballer more selfless, more devoted to the team than Paul Scholes, particularly considering his extraordinary skills. One of the best midfield players ever to pull on the famous red shirt in Manchester United history, the loyal stalwart reached the pinnacle of his long and distinguished career in 2008 when he helped his club win the Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow.
A former England star, the hard working Manchester United schemer has represented his country in two World Cups and two European Championships during his memorable international career. After making his first appearance for the England team in a 2-1 win at home to South Africa in 1997, Paul Scholes went on to collect a total of 65 full caps. Although a quiet and unassuming person off the soccer pitch, the local born midfielder occupies his very own position in Manchester United history.
