Soccer Trophies - The FIFA World Cup Trophy

Soccer trophies are used as a reward to soccer teams who have one specific event in the sport. Trophies are awarded in amateur or professional level. These trophies serve as a symbolic representation of the achievement of a team in the sport. Trophies are usually designed to signify an image representing the sport and also had an engraved name of the winning team which sometimes bears the date of the event.
The FIFA World Cup trophy is among the prestigious award in the whole world being given to champions of the FIFA World Cup.
In 1946 the first FIFA World Cup trophy is called the Jules Rimet Cup which was named after the founder of World Cup The trophy was designed by Abel Lafleur who is a French sculptor. The prestigious trophy was made of gold combined with elegant stones. It features the figure of the goddess of victory that is holding an octagon shaped cup. Uruguay was the first team to receive the trophy when they won the World Cup in 1930.
In 1970 the new trophy was designed by Silvio Gazzaniga an Italian artist in which it was used during the FIFA World Cup in 1974. It was awarded to West Germany. The trophy bears the word FIFA World Cup engraved at the base. At the bottom of the trophy is the name of the winning country. The base already consists of nine champions of the World Cup as of year 2006.
Soccer trophies remain a symbolic award to merit and recognize the hard earned winning of a true champion of the sport soccer.
