Soccer or Futball - Why Does the US Lag in World Competition?

Perhaps you played soccer when you were younger? In other nations they call it Futball, not soccer like in the United States. Maybe, because of your youth soccer sports you might follow Professional Soccer. I follow Futball a little bit, since I played for 7-years as a kid.

Indeed, recently I read a story that made me laugh. I laughed when the World League made a ruling not to play at high-altitudes such as Bolivia, I use to run against folks who lived and trained at 5,000 to 8,000 feet and when they came down to sea level, they were unbelievable in the endurance category. Futball is a GREAT sport, winning is the best part about it.

In fact, I believe that Futball will become a USA major sport, because in my generation and all those that follow, kids play it and as this continues to be, a dominant youth sport and those kids grow up, it will too. The major media promoting "US Football," baseball, basketball, have strong franchise systems and brands, like NASCAR in the US.

Soccer is weaker up against these franchises like the NBA, AFL, NFL, etc, but that will not be the same in the future. I think the US needs to do better in the Olympics and the World Soccer Scene and when they do, if they ever win a World Cup, then I think you will see a Change. Also consider that with 300 million people we have many athletes to draw from and we will then be competitive in the World and the US will grow in support of the sport.

Personally, I support "youth soccer" with car wash fundraisers in the US and believe we teach kids sports, keep them from getting juvenile diabetes, teach teamwork, hard work ethic, about winning with integrity and listening to coaches, while promoting the next generation of coaches and/or mentors in every sort of human activity. Yes, I believe in this very much actually.

Futball is a way to help build nations, unite countries in sports competition and get everyone respecting each other, I would hope this could be done. One thing we discussed at the Online Think Tank was that in Iraq, Palestinian territory of Jordan and even Afghanistan, we should build giant soccer fields both indoors and out. This will allow young people to burn off some of the youthful energy.

Remember in many of these countries, with the 22 year old average male population, that spending energy in sports will build character and perhaps prevent them joining suicide bombing squads. We should make humans stronger with personal character and they will tell the radicals to take a hike or punch them out if they suggest suicide bombings. Sincerely, Lance.
