Glory, Glory Man United

Manchester United is one of the most successful teams from the 1990's onwards. It has won every trophy and shield in all the competitions it plays in. It has produced great players like Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs (the most decorated player in the English premier league) to name but a few. It has always had classic matches that one can talk of for years to come with their great come back ability, with the peak of the lot being the comeback against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions' League final. That year they won the treble in spectacular style. The year is 2011 now and Manchester United, the Red Devils stand a chance to win again a treble but they have been far from spectacular.
The boys have been grinding wins throughout the season, their poor start in the English premier league with many draws resulted in some writing it off for the season. However being the big tem it is when it sneezes everyone catches a cold that is what happened as the poor form caught up with current champions Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. They opened up a way for the Red Devils to make an early comeback and they have been on top since. Performance wise it could be one of their worst seasons but they are limping on to the treble. Some of the players have admitted to the ugly football they are playing but they have said they would not mind winning an "ugly treble."
It now remains to be seen if Manchester United can pull off a treble this year, however ugly it may be. Their rivalry with Chelsea in the premier league has been extended to the Champions' league and it is promising to be an exciting close to the season. Injuries and red cards have robbed United of its preferred back four resulting in a makeshift defence with the like of Carrick playing in another scrapped win against Bolton at the Old Trafford. It looks like the senior players at United are on song with the goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar being the highlight of most matches.
In what would be his last season, Edwin is planning to exit with a bang and nothing will make that exit even sweeter than a treble, however ugly. He is really the one who deserves special praises including the mastermind Sir Alex. It is true the saying when the going gets tough the tough get going, if it gets tougher and tougher they will limp on and on. Being a fan I hope the Red Army will be singing Glory Glory Man United for the third time on the 28th of May at Wembley holding all three trophies as the pride of English soccer! Step aside Liverpool we are the pride of English soccer!
